The focus of Kripalu Yoga is on developing non-judgmental awareness or witness consciousness. This allows for inner stillness in yoga practice, meditation, daily life, and amidst adverse life circumstances. As witness consciousness develops, so does your ability to consciously choose how to act on thoughts, feelings, and emotions.

The practice of yoga can be used to reveal our true nature. When you deliberately put your body in a yoga posture, control your breath, and direct your attention, you master the will and are able to access deep states of surrender. This is Kripalu Yoga. (KYTT Manual, 1.1)
